Ivy Sheward’s 3-2-1-Blog! Week 8
1st thing I learned: I learned the types of authority:
-Traditional: People were obeyed because they held positions of obedience.
-Legal: Administers evaluate teachers.
-Charasmatic: Some teachers can command obedience because of their personality.
2nd thing I learned: I learned that the hiring process varies district to district. Schools take different things into consideration, such as community/school opinion, experience, degree type, etc.
3rd thing I learned: Something I was surprised to learn was that different schools have different levels of supervision over the teachers. It breaks down to administrators being more or less hands on in the school, checking out classrooms once in a while.
1st connection I made: A connection I can make is in the evaluation. My principals from both elementary school and high school were in our classroom a ew times a year checking out what we were doing and assessing our teachers.
2nd connection I made: Another connection I can make is with the dismissal portion of the reading. In elementary school, a teacher handled a situation poorly and was disciplined. Though the teacher wasn’t fired, you could tell they were more cautious afterwards.
1 question I still have: Why are university teachers allowed to teach what they want to? Shouldn’t they have to teach from a ‘university curriculum’?
